Here’s our top 5 tips:

1. Make a Target run: Don’t worry about finding space to pack all the “extras”, “ just in case”things, instead pre order a curbside delivery. Diapers, wipes, fruit, snacks, quick meals, cooler n ice, beverages, maybe a new toy or two.

2. How to pack your carry on: Pack one full day of extra (min. 6hrs more than expected to avoid being stressed with unexpected delays or strange pauses) you will be equipped for most unknowns. Bring: extra diapers, wipes, suckers (helps regulate kids ears while taking off and landing), interesting snacks that take time to eat, and pack it in a fun container.

3. Don’t set them up with all their snacks and entertainment options in the beginning, drag it out! Let the airplane itself be entertaining. The people… the broachers behind the chairs….. a cup of ice from the flight attendants…… the seatbelt, the window….. ok I think you get where I am going with this. Wait as long as possible to bring out your magic tricks.

4. Car seat options: Rent the car seat! If at all possible, rent that car seat, they can be such a hassle to check. So, if you are renting a car, consider renting the car seat too. Not an option? Lucky for you they can be checked on or even brought onboard, have you seen parents strapping them in the aircraft? Genius, if you have a child who enjoys their car seat, otherwise grab a protector / carrier bag to make transportation easier. We chose a red one as it's easy to spot and doesn't get mixed up with the other traveling parents. Same goes for a stroller if you plan on taking one of those.

5. Packing cubes: Everyone gets their own color. This makes it simple to find anything you are looking for. You and your travel buddies will know exactly where to look.

Most importantly have FUN and be flexible. Traveling with a kid is not easy. So make the experience fun for everyone and if something comes up, stop breath through it and shake it off. You got this.
